星期四 [ 2010-1-7 10:25:06 | watches1013 ] Extra year in prison for 'Bandit of Gold' A conman jeweller dubbed the 'Bandit of Gold' jailed for two years for cheating customers has had another year added to his sentence. A jury earlier this year convicted Gary Riggs, 44, of the Band of Gold jewellers in Penarth, of selling fake Rolex watches and stealing from the bank account of a 90-year-old client. Omega Replica The jeweller's second sentence yesterday followed a guilty plea to cheating banks out of pounds 46,000 by putting cloned credit cards through his cash machine. Riggs, of Lynmouth Drive, Sully, recorded the transactions in his books as sales of diamond rings. But no jewellery ever changed hands, prosecutor Meirion Davies told a court yesterday. The losers were Coutts bank and the National Westminster when the card owners discovered the purchases they hadn't made. One victim, who was supposed to have spent pounds 30,000 on his Coutts card in Band of Gold, told police: 'I've never even been to Penarth.' Riggs pleaded guilty to three charges of theft. His second wife, Fleur, who had originally been charged with money laundering after some of the cash went through her bank account, was in Newport Crown Court to see him sent down for a second time. The allegation against Mrs Riggs, 37, was later dropped. Defence barrister David Marni Replica Elias said the new offences were committed when Riggs was going through a divorce from his first wife Linda and was having serious financial difficulties.
